Privacy Policy

The short version

Palmate is a palm-reading app made for fun. To create your reading we need a photo of your palm and a few details about you. We treat your palm photo as biometric data and handle it with care.

We do not sell your data, and the only outside company we share it with to make your reading is OpenAI, the AI provider that generates the words. You can delete everything, permanently, whenever you like.

What we collect

• The photo of your palm that you choose to scan. We treat this as biometric data.
• Your first name, birth date, relationship status, and chosen topic.
• Your readings, comparisons, and daily-reading history.
• Your email address, for sign-in.
• The IP address a scan is sent from, used to prevent abuse.

Your palm photo and your consent

A palm photo can be considered biometric data, so we ask for your clear, informed permission before we use it. By accepting our Terms and Privacy Policy when you continue at sign-in, and by choosing to submit a palm photo, you consent to us collecting and processing that photo, and the details listed above, for the single purpose of generating your entertainment reading.

This is the only thing we use your palm photo for. We do not use it to identify you elsewhere, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train any AI model.

Palmate is for adults. You must be at least 18, or the age of legal majority where you live, to give this consent and to use the app. Palmate is not for children.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account, which erases your palm photo and all related data.

How your reading is made

To create a reading, we send your palm photo, your age, your relationship status, and your chosen topic to OpenAI, an AI provider, which returns the reading. OpenAI acts only as our processor for this purpose.

OpenAI is the only third party we share this data with to make your reading. Your first name and your exact birth date are never sent to OpenAI; they stay on our servers and are used only inside the app.

We do not sell or share your data

We do not sell your personal or biometric data, and we never share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Apart from OpenAI (described above), we only share data with the infrastructure providers that run the app on our behalf (such as our hosting and private file storage), and only where the law requires it, for example in response to a valid legal request.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

Your data is stored privately to your account and kept only for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account, and every photo and reading with it, at any time from Settings.

Deletion is permanent: it erases your palm photos, readings, and account details from our systems. This is your right to erasure under laws such as the GDPR and CCPA.

Your rights

You can access the data tied to your account inside the app, delete all of it by deleting your account, and withdraw your consent to biometric processing the same way.

If you have questions or want help with a data request, contact us at support@palmateapp.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, and we will honour them.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including private storage and access controls. No app or method of transmission is ever 100% secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we work to keep your information safe.

Not advice

Palmate is entertainment. Readings are not fact and are not medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice. Please do not rely on them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will make that clear in the app.
